Summertime Reading Club in 2011

Join the Summertime Reading Club in 2011. This very popular summer activity starts again on 16 December and runs to 20 January 2012.

Simply read six books of your choice — fiction or non-fiction — and get an adult to register your reading online. The first 500 entries get a prize pack. You also go in the draw for more prizes and an iPod Touch©. See our terms and conditions.

Get in the reading habit and you will be ready for the new winter reading event coming your way mid 2012.

How the Summertime Reading Club works

  • Log Print out the reading log [101KB PDF] or get one from your local library or the Summertimes booklet.
  • Read six books of your choice.
  • Get a parent, caregiver or librarian to register your reading online and be one of the first 500 to pick up your prize pack from your local library. All registrations go in the draw for the premier prizes.
  • Visit the Christchurch kids blog for more reading news and weekly prize draws.
  • Keep an eye on the library website to see if you are one of the lucky prize winners.

Information for parents and teachers

Children aged five to 13 years are invited to read six books, register their reading on the library website and go in the draw for book prizes and an iPod Touch©. Check the terms and conditions.

The six books must come from at least three of the following categories:

  • Sport or craft
  • Action/adventure
  • Funny/humorous jokes, poems or stories
  • Magic, mystery or scary stories
  • Another place, time or world
  • True story

Please note: some books can be classified in more than one category.
The first 500 registered also receive a prize pack from their local library with a bookmark and badge or magnet.

Reading is fun and they can also share their summer experiences on the exciting Christchurch kids blog.

Terms and conditions

  • You must be between 5 and 13 years of age to enter.
  • Entries open 5pm Friday 16 December 2011.
  • Entries close 5pm Friday 20 January 2012.
  • We will notify winners by telephone and/or email.
  • Employees of Christchurch City Council and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the prize draw.
  • If you are a winner, you consent to your name, photograph, entry and/or interview being used for reasonable publicity purposes by Christchurch City Libraries.
  • The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Prize are as stated and are not transferable.
