Hot Off the Press Accommodation Survey
Provides information on accommodation types and occupancy rates for each New Zealand region and is also available off the Statistics NZ site.
New Zealand Official Yearbook 1999: Leisure and Tourism section.
The 1999 edition can be accessed online; other print editions are held at all libraries.
Christchurch TramTourism Industry Association New Zealand

In the Aotearoa New Zealand Centre, this resource presents statistical information in both graph and table form.
Annual reports
Annual reports are a good source of information on tourist spending and employment in the tourism industry, for example the NZ Tourism Industry Association Annual Report and Tourism Holdings. Annual reports are available at the Central Library.

This includes an essay (see p.83), which summarises the contribution of tourism to the New Zealand economy, the jobs it generates, tourist spending and visitor numbers to New Zealand from 1979-1998.
