With PressDisplay, Christchurch City Libraries customers now have same-day access to newspapers from around the world, previously impossible with printed papers. The site offers over 650 newspapers from 76 countries, able to be read on screen exactly as printed, or as text-only versions. Newspapers are available in 36 languages and can be translated into 12.
73 New Zealand newspapers are available, including The Press, The Dominion Post and The New Zealand Herald. International coverage includes over 70 Australian papers including The Sydney Morning Herald, along with over a 100 each from the UK and the USA, and popular newspapers from other countries.
Using the full graphic versions, users can flip pages over, as with a newspaper. Newspapers can also be browsed page by page, from cover-to-cover, or you can go directly to an article on the page you're interested in. You can then zoom in or out to make reading really easy. Individual pages or single stories can be printed or emailed. Users can also hear the news read to them by switching on the integrated radio.
