About the festival
Culture Galore celebrates our city’s diversity with food, art, crafts and music and dance performances from more than 50 cultures who call Christchurch home. The event takes place in the lead-up to Race Relations Day on 21 March.
Started in 2001, Culture Galore is part of the Garden City SummerTimes festival. It is organised by Christchurch City Council Recreation Unit staff, and is funded by the Fendalton/Waimairi and Riccarton/Wigram Community Boards. Staff from Fendalton Library attend each year.
Performances and activities
Groups perform continuously on the main stage, and a bouncy castle, rock climbing and face painting provide entertainment for children.
The Christchurch Multicultural Council demonstrate different cultural games and several community agencies will have information booths at the event.
