Adult Learners’ Week is a UNESCO initiative to celebrate all adult learners.
Annual theme
2011’s theme for Adult Learners’ Week is Learn for Today and Tomorrow — E ako mō tēnei rā me āpōpō. It emphasises that improving your education or learning a new skill can help you now and in the future.
Posters and postcards will introduce some new themes and slogans.

Courses at Learning Centres and libraries
Our Learning Centres run community programmes on a wide range of topics including family history and a computers and coffee group. There are classes for adults and for families.

Date change for 2011
The date for Adult Learners’ Week/He Tangata Mātauranga generally incorporates International Literacy Day (8 September). In 2011 because of the Rugby World Cup beginning that week, it was decided that Adult Learners’ Week would be moved to later in the year.
