Library Assistant
It's more than just a love of books.
Our Library Assistants spend a lot of time helping our customers with lending and information services, and assisting their team in many different ways.
Excellent customer service skills are vital, as are good physical stamina and sound literacy and numeracy skills. You will also be able to work with new technologies, have an interest in learning and have a good general knowledge to ensure you keep pace with our dynamic business.
We have a variety of full-time and part-time Library Assistant positions in our different locations. Our Library Assistants work a mixture of evening and weekend shifts, and also school holidays to meet our customer needs. For this job you must have a minimum qualification of Sixth Form Certificate or equivalent. Many university graduates use this job as the first step for their career in libraries.

Information Librarian
Combine unique challenges, a techno savvy environment, and work with a team to deliver information and project work, and you have the role of the information librarian. This job is ideal for customer focused people with a high level of skill in using the many information resources available. It also offers scope for those who have the ability to explore new ideas in delivering information. For this role, a library qualification is desirable.
We have a range of full-time and part-time Information Librarian positions in our various teams. Our Information Librarians work a mixture of evening and weekend shifts, and also school holidays to meet our customer needs.
Community Children's Librarian
Creativity is certainly a plus when working with our younger customers. The Community Children's Librarian does not work only with the younger customer but also with the whole community.
Great people and planning skills, the ability to present informatively and excite and entertain young people are vital to the job. Story telling skills are a real must.
This is a fun and interesting environment for a person who has a passion for children and youth services, a combination of experience and a partially or fully completed library qualification.

Information Specialist
Do you have a keen thirst for knowledge? Can you use a wide range of resources to link customers with the information they need?
You will generally need to be library qualified for this sought-after role. You will also need technology skills, given that technology is so much a part of library work in the 21st century. Because this position also requires leading and teaching other staff, excellent interpersonal skills are also a must.
Shelver
Being able to find books, magazines and other library items is important to our customers, so our Shelvers need to put these items in the right place, first time.
You will need to work independently and unsupervised with a high level of accuracy and standards of displaying and presenting stock. You will display our library materials so that they look inviting. You will also need to be able to lift items and adjust to the change of workload that is part of this job.
Our Shelvers are part-time and can expect to work up to a maximum of four hours per day or up to 16 hours per week.
Team Leaders / Community Librarian
These jobs call for proactive and highly motivated people with a track record of leading teams within a service and information business.
To lead a library team you will need an excellent understanding of libraries both as a community place for people to visit and also as a place that provides information.
Public relations skills and the ability to relate to the wide variety of people that make up the community are essential. This role involves working closely with your community and other service providers within it. Another very important part of the role is that of coach and guide. Being able to develop your team and bring out the best in them makes this job very rewarding.
You will also be responsible for the financial and operational aspects of running your community library or library team.

Digital Library Services
If you love things technical, you'll get a buzz out of working for our DLS team. The jobs range from troubleshooting, sharing knowledge and testing equipment to systems support. Our Online Services team, from both media and library backgrounds, create and manage the library's websites and other online services. These people help us remain in the forefront of IT and online delivery in New Zealand and worldwide.

Places & Spaces
This team helps the library plan its future development needs. Their jobs range from planning new buildings to producing interesting statistics on how our customers use our services.

Ever thought about who chooses what should go on library shelves? The people in this team select the large variety of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and more, and get them to our libraries. Our people are in tune with what is happening out there and what our customers want.
Distribution Assistant
This behind the scenes role gives vital support to our libraries. It is a physical job with a busy daily routine.
Our Distribution Assistants sort stock to enable efficient distribution between our libraries so customers can get what they want, how, where and when they want it.
Attention to detail, sound literacy and numeracy skills, and excellent physical stamina are essential in this job.
