The Research Room
The Research Room has been designed to provide controlled housing for New Zealand heritage material requiring preservation and security. This includes rare, fragile, or vulnerable material of any date. Material housed there is used there, along with archives, bound newspapers and a few special periodicals. Everything housed in the Research Room is recorded on the Library's catalogue, so researchers can easily locate material they want to see.
Special conditions apply to the use of the Research Room:
- current ID is required,
- pencils only may be used and
- lockers are provided for all bags, coats etc
- a register of all users is kept
- photocopying, where permitted, must be done by staff.
A prior arrangement is recommended for use of archives, since not all are immediately available. White gloves are supplied and must be worn when using archival material.
