Collection buying has started

By the time the new library opens the collection will be about the same size as the collection held at Akaroa, or Lyttelton Libraries.

Selectors are ordering new titles which have been chosen to specifically match the needs of the Aranui community.

The collection will look like this:

  • 5% Māori and Pacific Island material
  • 38% General fiction and nonfiction
  • 35% Children’s material
  • 5% Young adult material
  • 6% General talking books, DVDs, music CDs, electronic games
  • 11% Magazines and newspapers

The book collection will be supported by a range of electronic resources.

Customers using Aranui Library will also have access to the rest of the collections held in the Christchurch City Libraries network.
